courtyard”, the Mateo and Dougan Band play atmospheric and groove oriented music rooted in

and inspired by the intimate and edgy nature of the real folk blues and steeped in Americana

from folk to jazz to rock. Stories informed by an upbringing in the factory towns of upstate New York and an adult life incubated in New York City and settled in the Hudson Valley. Their new

album, “Time to Fly” features original songs by Carl Mateo, piano, guitar, vocals and harmonica,

the stellar playing of Peter Dougan on left handed electric and acoustic guitar, Eric Parker on

crew of contributors including Kyle Esposito, bass, Chuck Cornelis on bass, Aaron Lieberman

(God Street Wine) on guitar, Josh Tyler, Drums, Paul Schiavo on bass and Victor Lissabet on

guitar.. For the past six years the band has developed their style and vibe at gigs that take on a

party and community nature through the camaraderie and groove of the players, their fans, friends and family. “Time to Fly” is available now on Preorder to be released in February 2019.

Eric Squindo & Amy Laber

Eric Squindo

Influenced by the likes of Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, Squindo's music has been described as warm and whimsical country/folk. Simple, honest lyrics delivered with a dusty-road tenor voice, his performances are soulful and thought provoking without being artificial or pretentious. A founding member of the Woodstock based band, Mister Roper, Squindo has been performing since 1995 and released his debut solo album in 2003; voted one of the best local releases of the year by the Asbury Park Press. Currently a resident of Kingston, NY, Eric continues to perform solo, with Roper, and with the Uncommon Gestures. He also founded ESP (Eric Squindo Presents) which organizes one of a kind tribute shows featuring local talent.

Amy Laber

Longtime New Paltz-based troubadour Amy Laber’s music is a potent reminder of the power of simplicity, the depth of country soul and the magic of an open heart. In his review of her latest CD, “Mountainside Wildflower,” Seth Rogovoy of Chronogram says, “Amy Laber's vision of country music digs deep beyond superficialities of form and twang to the bedrock of soul music with a lower-case "s"—which, if you think about it, is what powers great music of any kind. Laber displays plenty of soul here, in her haunting vocals, which connect Loretta Lynn to Patti Smith; in her reliance on modal drones—the essence of blues and the DNA common to so much global folk-roots music, from Ireland to India to China and back again; and in her resonant writing about life and love and nature and music itself.”

Saturday Night Bluegrass Band

Saturday Night Bluegrass Band

The Saturday Night Bluegrass Band, with a repertoire that expands considerably into old country, original songs, familiar favorites, acoustic stylings, modern grass and more, will return to the Pines at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 1st!

Of course, you know the band: Singer, guitarist Brian Hollander, who'll also play some Dobro; Tim Kapeluck on mandolin, guitar and vocals; Geoff Harden holds down the bass and sings a sweet harmony; and the beautiful stylings of the incomparable singer, Francine Hollander, whose plaintive readings of those beautiful old country songs will, well, just tear you up.

Tim will add some of the songs from his exquisite new album, By Time and Gravity, on which Brian, Geoff will play, too.

For 14 years, the band conducted the Bluegrass Clubhouse on Thursday nights...but when the venue closed they became musical nomads, seeking sound systems and a place to perform. It's a rare treat when we get to play on Saturday nights, as our name seems to imply.

There may have some guests, maybe known or unknown, but fine pickers, all, to be sure.

And all for the ridiculously low price of, uh, whatever you see fit to put in the jar.

So we welcome you all out there to the Pines, where there's always heat, especially when the music starts...

Paul McMahon Trio

“A survivor of the No Wave scene, Paul grew up at the Club 47 at the feet of Jim Kweskin, Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf. He took guitar lessons from Elvin Bishop, was roommates with Chris Smither and has been on the bill with Michael Hurley 3 times. He played in Daily Life with Glenn Branca, Barbara Ess and Christine Hahn. He also played in Branca’s first all guitar compositions and started A Band with Wharton Tiers.
He helped open the Knitting Factory, started the Dharmaware Café acoustic venue and now operates the Mothership in Woodstock. His songs can be heard on WKZE and WDST as well as WFMU in the NYC area. A popular Woodstock songwriter for a couple of decades, he has 10 albums of original songs to his credit. In a review of HYMN TO HER John Burdick called him “a bad_ss m__________r”. A recording engineer named a child after one of his songs. He believes his music, live and recorded, can be part of the healing process of everything.”
