PI Power Trio w/ Pat Irwin, Sahsha Dobson & Daria Grace

The PI Power Trio is Pat Irwin (guitar, electronics), Sasha Dobson (drums, vocals) and Daria Grace (bass, vocals). The band draws on the rich tradition of Instrumental Rock and Roll and then blows it up. The PI Power Trio plays modern music.

Pat Irwin was a founding member of the seminal No Wave bands The Raybeats (with George Scott, Jody Harris, and Don Christensen from The Contortions) and 8 Eyed Spy (with Lydia Lunch and Jim Sclavunos from Teenage Jesus and George Scott from The Contortions.) Irwin was a long time touring member of the B-52s, joining the band in 1989 and helping to bring the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam” to mass audiences around the world. He’s composed the music for hundreds of cartoons including “Rocko’s Modern Life,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Pepper Ann,” and “Class of 3000.” He’s also written the music for Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie,” HBO’s “Bored To Death,” and AMC’s “Feed The Beast” as well as many independent films including, “My New Gun,” “But I’m A Cheerleader,” and “Bam Bam and Celeste.” Fader Magazine recently described Irwin as “a pioneer,” a term that Rolling Stone also used to describe The Raybeats. The legendary rock critic, Robert Palmer, writing in the New York Times, referred to Irwin as a “mercurial presence on the New York rock scene of the early ’80’s. The bands he helped found, The Raybeats and 8 Eyed Spy, resembled each other only in that both had an aversion to the predictable and ordinary.”

Sasha Dobson and Daria Grace are both established and unique performers on their own. Dobson was a member of Puss ‘N Boots with Norah Jones. Their LP “No Fools No Fun” was released on Blue Note in 2014. Her record “Aquarius” was hailed by Magnet as “raw and compelling.” Her recording “Into The Trees” was released in 2014 to wide acclaim and she has toured relentlessly with her own band, performing at Farm Aid 2013 and opening for Willie Nelson on a series of dates in 2014. Her latest single, “Unchained” was released in the spring, 2018.

Daria Grace has been singing and playing on the New York Scene for over 20 years, and has toured and recorded with avant-rockers God Is My Co-Pilot, pop-noir sextet Melomane, and Hawaiian swing quartet The Moonlighters. Her current band, the Pre-War Ponies, specialize in obscure tunes from the 20s and 30s. Their 2016 recording, “Get Out Under The Moon” was recently praised by the New York Daily Music Blog, “Grace is one of New York’s most distinctive and elegant singers…You’ll be missing out if you don’t own this album”

Together, Pat Irwin, Sasha Dobson, and Daria Grace make The PI Power Trio.
