Sweet Marie is Katie and Gabbi Eklund. Growing up in the hills of the western Catskills, they heard everything from classical music to Django Reinhardt, Led Belly, Dylan, Chuck Berry, Aretha and many others. They combine these influences into their own personal style, writing songs that have been described as, “Music well beyond their years,” by David Sancious. 

Their first major public appearance was at the International Peace Festival in the Central Park Band Shell, where upon hearing them for the first time, several other acts asked them to join them on stage. 

Dar Williams, upon hearing them for the first time asked them to join her onstage for a few songs during her performance at Bearsville Theater. 

Sweet Marie has opened for Brandi Carlile, American Nomads, Thompson Square, and will be appearing at Mountain Jam 2019 for the second year in a row. Recent performances at Rockwood Music Hall and Drom in NYC  have been received with rave reviews by audiences.  Please come out to hear the music of what Radio Woodstock has called "Our favorite young singer songwriters."
