Carl Mateo Band—featuring Peter Dougan, Kyle Esposito, and Manuel Quintana—channels the spirit of Hudson Valley/Catskills Americana into music that feels both grounded and searching.

Carl Mateo, a singer-songwriter of quiet intensity, weaves guitar, piano, and harmonica into songs shaped by upstate New York’s landscapes and the lives moving through them—friends, family, and wanderers alike.

His most recent release Time to Fly travels a wide emotional arc: “Seventeen Years” traces the long road to inner peace; “Lay Down” balances escape and surrender; “Devil’s in the Courtyard” aches for lost innocence; “Hey English” celebrates enduring love. “I’ll Be Waiting” lingers in regret, while the gospel-tinged “Revelator” echoes Son House’s “John the Revelator.” “Lullabye Moon” lifts with a playful, mountain-top groove, “Jake and the Bean” honors a lost friend in a changing neighborhood, and the title track “Time to Fly” closes with release, renewal, and open sky.

A seasoned presence on stage, Mateo has shared the stage with John Hammond Jr., Jorma Kaukonen, Robert Hunter, Suzanne Vega, John Doe and X and more. Rooted in the Woodstock music community, he collaborates closely with his bandmates. A new album is set for Winter 2027.
