Simi Stone and Philip Marshall come together to form The Shaker, a folk-punk acoustic duo from Woodstock, New York. Poetry and music intertwine to bring a raucous, haunted, soulful sound to life. Marshall, a songwriter born in Dublin who played in rock band The Tulips - inspired by The Virgin Prunes and the Velvets met Stone in a parking lot and began writing songs together. Simi, a multidisciplinary artist has recorded, toured and collaborated with legendary talents including Natalie Merchant, David Byrne, Tamar-Kali Brown, Juliette Lewis, The Gypsy Kings, Neko Case and the late Charles Bradley. She was a founding member of the Afro-Punk movement in New York City and fronted her own bands, Suffrajett, The Duke and The King, and has released two solo albums “Simi Stone” and “The Rescue”. Marshall and Stone will be releasing their debut album “the shaker” this summer, presale May15th, available everywhere June 30th 2025.
